Quality Care for Preschoolers!

Sunny Days Daycare
"A Child Centered, Developmentally Appropriate, Reliable & Loving Environment
where your child is safe, nutured and challenged to learn."

We are located in the Midtown area of Omaha, NE near 42nd & Center. We may be small but we are MIGHTY!    Sunny Days Daycare is for children age 3 to 6'ish and older children are accepted if space is available and usually only in the summer.

About my program:
Sunny Days is a Child Led Program and activities are based on the child's interests. They are encouraged to learn about new things (and trying them) and to have fun doing it. I keep my program very small so I can provide individual attention to each child. I believe each child needs to know they are loved and that I am excited to see them each day. I believe that it is important for each child's growth that parents and I work closely together with open communication regarding different needs their child has such as social, language, physical, cognitive, discipline and emotional.

At Sunny Days you will find:
1) AM Preschool Transportation - Washington Elementary School and Good Shepherd Lutheran School. If you attend another school within 5 miles of my location please ask. If I don't have more than 1 other child and pick up times work I will consider going to other schools. Washington Elementary & Good Shepherd are preferred locations.
2) Healthy Meals including veggies, whole grains, lots of fruit and healthy snacks.
3) Fun Activities, crafts & preschool learning activities that use a variety of large and small motor skills for hands on learning.
4) Toys for the preschool aged child & their stage of development.
5) A flexible schedule designed to encourage having fun learning and playing. We are child led and our day centers around their interests, how they are feeling and their personality.
6) A community minded schedule - we are very active within the community and you will find park days, water days, picnics, trips to the art museum and fontenelle forest often on our schedule as well as spur of the moment.
7) Summer Program ~ our Summer Program is designed to keep kids BUSY and LEARNING through the Summer Reading Program. Our kids LOVE this program. We also participate in VBS and many many other activities. Your kids go home tired!

Early Learning:
Sunny Days is more than just ABC's & 123's! We also learn about manners, courtesy, respecting others as well as science and math. Each child is taught to come when called, obey with a smile, to have a cheerful attitude in all things, to listen to and care for others. Time outs are rarely given as discipline is given through redirection or having the child play by themselves or sit quietly until they are ready to be kind, play nicely or do what they are asked which helps them learn to take responsibility for their actions.

Our daily schedule is flexible ~ I do plan daily activities such as Wednesdays are Library Story Time Days and Thursdays are Gym Days at a local community center. At least once a week we spend a couple hours at the park while the weather is nice and have a picnic and learn how to play with other children. Children are taught to introduce themselves to other children and share their outside toys as well. We are also active in a local playgroup and often go to the children's museum, Bellevue Berry Farm in the fall and Fontenelle Forest for art time and to learn about animals. We read a Bible Story as part of our daily routine and during the summer we attend Vacation Bible School. During the Christmas & East seasons we learn about Christmas & Jesus' Birth and Resurrection. We also sing songs and listen to music and dance.

Nope, we don't forget about the ABC's & 123's either! I use a combination of 3dinosaurs.com, RFTS Preschool & Hooked on Phonics for language and learning to write as well as large motor activities. We also use Hot Dots, make our own literacy booklet filled with crafts and other activities to share about stories we are reading. Throughout the year we also learn about science and being eco-friendly by participating in Experiments, Green Kid Crafts & Kiwi Crate as well as visiting Hummel Park.

Inclement Weather:
Sunny Days Daycare will be closed if Omaha Public Schools closes due to bad weather. This includes blizzards, ice storms and other dangerous weather. This does not include heat advisories if schools close due to heat & air conditioning problems. This rule is designed to keep your children safe and is non-negotiable except for City Safety Personnel who must go into work (ie Police, Doctors, Nurses, Hospital Personnel, Fire Fighters).

Sunny Days Daycare has the option to choose to pick up children early or take children later if the roads are icy or if a dangerous storm is coming in. Parents will be notified by text that I am picking up their children early from school and they will be returning to daycare.
